Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav inspected the construction of ‘Vande Bharat 2.0’ (Vande Bharat Sleeper) train at the Coach Factory (Integral Coach Factory) here on Friday. The Minister, along with General Manager U Suba Rao, inspected the furnishing division of ICF, manufacturing of sleeper class coaches and kitchen van of the Vande Bharat train currently under construction. The ‘Vande Bharat 2.0’ train will be able to save up to 30 percent power and will be equipped with advanced features including anti-collision system ‘Kavach’.
It will be capable of running at a maximum speed of 180 km per hour and will be lighter, weighing 392 tonnes instead of the earlier 430 tonnes. ‘Vande Bharat 2.0’ will also have fire fighting facilities and anti-flood systems.
The Coach Factory (ICF i.e. Integral Coach Factory) established in 1955 is one of the oldest production units in the country. The factory, spread over approximately 511 acres, has more than 9,300 employees producing more than 2,500 cartons per year.
