Industries in MP will not have to obtain fire safety certificate from urban bodies.

Industries established under the Factories Act 1948 in Madhya Pradesh will not have to obtain separate fire safety certificates from urban bodies. On the demand of industrial organizations, the state government is going to amend this provision. In fact, in view of the incidents of fire, the Urban Development and Housing Department had given instructions to strictly follow the fire safety provisions. According to this, notices were being given to the industries. The state government is celebrating the year 2025 as the year of industry.

Industries are facing problems
Rules and procedures are being amended on the basis of suggestions received from industrialists in various regional investors summits. In this context, the guidelines are being amended in view of the problems being faced by the industries due to the requirement of fire safety certificate.

Fire safety certificate mandatory
In view of the incidents of fire, the Urban Development and Housing Department has made it mandatory for all buildings more than 15 meters high, buildings with an area of ​​more than 500 square meters on one floor, hotels and hospitals to obtain fire safety certificate under the rules of the National Building Code. Was. For this, officers at different levels were appointed competent authorities. When notices were given to the industries for not obtaining the certificate, they demanded the department to amend it. According to sources, considering the demand as practical, the department has started preparations to amend the rule.

Exemption will be given for obtaining certificate
In this, those industries will be given exemption to obtain fire safety certificate, which come under the Factory Act 1948 and Factory Rules 1962. There is a provision in the rules that permission will be given only after making provisions for fire safety. The operators look after the industrial health and safety whether the provisions are followed or not. Once the procedure is done, there is no point in repeating it, so the instructions are being revised.
