Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that Chhattisgarh will become a bowl of vegetables and fruits along with paddy in the coming times. He said that the Central Government is promoting horticulture and horticulture crops along with agriculture. Union Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the three-day farmers conference organized in village Khapri of Durg district today. On this occasion, the program was presided over by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai.
On this occasion, Union Minister Shri Chouhan inaugurated the building constructed by Progressive Kisan Sangh and performed Bhoomi Pujan of the training centre. Also flagged off a truck filled with 200 quintals of vegetables for the Mahakumbh organized in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from January 13. On this occasion, farmers honored Union Agriculture Minister Shri Chouhan by garlanding him and giving mementos. Union Minister Shri Chouhan said that Rs 203 crore has been released for incentives and grants to enrich the farmers and promote horticulture crops in Chhattisgarh. He appealed to the farmers to produce pigeon pea, moong and urad crops and set up processing units.
While addressing the farmers conference, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Central Government are getting full support for the development of Chhattisgarh. He said that as soon as our government was formed, in the first cabinet meeting, 18 lakh houses were approved, fulfilling the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Fulfilling the promise of Prime Minister Modi ji, it is purchasing 21 quintals of paddy per acre from the farmers of the state at the rate of Rs 3100. Our government is committed to empowering and enriching the farmers. Last year, 145 lakh metric tons of paddy was purchased, this year it is estimated that 160 lakh metric tons of paddy will be purchased.
Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam also addressed the farmers’ conference. He said that the farmers of Chhattisgarh are very hardworking and are becoming empowered and prosperous by adopting new agricultural techniques. Efforts are also being made by the Chhattisgarh government to provide good prices to the farmers for their crops and to increase production. The farmers’ conference was organized by Chhattisgarh Young Progressive Farmers Association in collaboration with the Horticulture Department. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma, MP Mr. Vijay Baghel, MLA Mr. Domanlal Korsewada, former MLA Mr. Devji Bhai Patel, Mr. Vimal Chopra, President of Yuva Progressive Farmers Association Mr. Virendra Lohan and other members of the union and a large number of farmers were present. .
