12 km from Baderajpur, a remote development block of the district. Chanabharri of Gram Panchayat Kosmi, located at a distance of 1000 meters, is where 10 Kamar families of Special Backward Tribe group reside. Chanabharri settlement comes in Vanagram under Gram Panchayat Kosmi, which is adjacent to the forest. The main occupation of these families is based on agriculture and forest produce, from which they earn their living.
Under the Prime Minister’s Tribal Justice Maha Abhiyan (Janman), Chanabharri has been identified as a settlement of the special backward tribal group and work is being done to provide all the basic facilities to all the 10 Kamar families residing here by connecting them with all the schemes of the Central and State Government. . Efforts are being made by the district administration for better implementation of the scheme with the coordinated efforts of all departments. Shri Gangaram Markam, a resident of Chanabharri, is one of those Kamar tribe families who have got the benefit of permanent housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana under Janman Yojana. Gangaram is very happy to have a permanent residence today and this has marked the beginning of a change in his life.
Gangaram’s family was living their life in a hut.
Gangaram’s family, which was struggling with financial difficulties, used to live in a kutcha hut-like house, which was made of wood and plastic on the roof. Gangaram lives with his wife and parents and his parents are aged. Gangaram makes various types of traditional household items from bamboo to run the household and his wife helps him in this work. Gangaram along with his wife also collects forest produce, which includes Char-Chironji, Mahua etc. Gangaram brings these products to sell in Vishrampuri market and with the income he earns, he fulfills the minor needs of the household. Gangaram says that due to this it is very difficult for his family to survive.
Due to its proximity to the forest, his family also had to face dangers from snakes, scorpions and other wildlife. Recalling the rainy days, Gangaram says that during the rainy season, water used to leak from the hut, which was a big problem for our family, because water dripping from the roof used to flood the hut. Due to this, the things used in daily life got spoiled and due to this, Gangaram’s family had to face many difficulties. During the rainy season, the plastic used on the roof of the house gets damaged due to heavy rains and strong sunlight, then the thought of building a pucca house came to Gangaram’s mind, but due to limited sources of income, building a pucca house was like a dream for Gangaram. .
Got a permanent house through Janman Yojana, Gangaram’s life became easier
Gangaram got approval for housing in the year 2023-24 under Janman Yojana. After the house approval, Shri Gangaram’s hope of building his own permanent house appeared to be fulfilled and as soon as the first installment amount was received, direction was given to fulfill the dream, after which on the basis of technical guidance at the district, district and gram panchayat level. Housing construction work was started. The installment amount was received based on the progress of the work, however, as the level of work increased, today their dream house was completed and ready.
Ganga Ram completed the construction of the house in a timely manner by making good use of the total amount of Rs 02 lakh 23 thousand 850 including 90 days wages received from the government under MNREGA amounting to Rs 23 thousand 850 and housing grant amount of Rs 02 lakh. Since due to low income it was very difficult to maintain the household, in that situation getting one’s own permanent house constructed was no less than a dream. Pradhan Mantri Janman Awas Yojana made Gangaram’s dream of having a pucca house come true and now he has got relief from all the problems which Gangaram’s family was going through due to the kutcha house.
The family of Shri Gangaram, resident of Chanabharri, who earlier used to live in a mud hut, is today living a safe and peaceful life by living in their pucca house. Along with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Gangaram has also got a gas connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, due to which his kitchen has become smoke free and has also been freed from the ill effects of smoke. Due to the public welfare schemes of the government, the life of Gangaram and his family has become better and easier than before. He thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai for this.
