More than three lakh people benefited from ‘Swayampurna Goa’ initiative: Chief Minister Sawant

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that more than three lakh people have benefited from the ‘Swayampurna Goa’ initiative launched by the government with the aim of making every village and city of the state self-reliant.

The Chief Minister on Monday called a review meeting with all taluka nodal officers and heads of various government departments, which focused on reviewing the progress of the ‘Swayampurna Goa’ program and the ongoing special operations in the coastal state, a government spokesperson said. Quoting the Chief Minister, the spokesperson said that about 3.14 lakh people in the state have directly or indirectly benefited from this programme. He said that Sawant appreciated the good work done by Swayampurna Mitras and Taluka Nodal Officers in their respective Gram Panchayats.

The spokesperson said that the Chief Minister made special mention of the ‘Vision for All’ initiative, under which the eyesight of more than two lakh students from class 1 to class 10 in government and aided schools was examined. He said, ‘Under this initiative, free spectacles were provided to 3,439 students.’ The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of special campaigns conducted by five major departments of the state.
