Heavy rain, storm and hailstorm lashed most of Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah city and surrounding areas including Mecca and Medina.
Al-Shafiyyah in Badr province recorded the highest rainfall of 49.2 mm, followed by Al-Basateen in Jeddah at 38 mm, according to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. According to media reports, rainfall included 36.1 mm in the central Haram area of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina and 28.4 mm near the Quba Mosque.

Roads and intersections were flooded with rainwater, disrupting traffic on highways and roads in the cities of Mecca, Jeddah and Medina. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) appealed to the public to strictly follow the advisories and warnings issued by the authorities to ensure their safety.

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah urged passengers to contact their respective air carriers and check flight schedule updates before traveling to the airport. NCM spokesman Hussein al-Qahtani said moderate to heavy rains were likely to continue in Jeddah province. He stressed that rainy conditions are still continuing in areas across the state.
