The State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) of the Urban Administration and Development Department has set a target of completing more than forty thousand houses in three months. For this, instructions have been given to the officials to speed up the work.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao had held a meeting of officials, in which he expressed his displeasure over the incomplete works. He had given instructions to complete the incomplete works as soon as possible.
Rapid Assessment Survey
In fact, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) in the state, Rapid Assessment Survey (survey of potentially eligible beneficiaries) is being conducted to provide the beneficiaries of 192 urban bodies with permanent houses.
Construction work could not even start
Here, 41,563 houses of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban are still incomplete. The construction work of about four thousand has not even started. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, 2,49,166 houses were approved by the Central Government. Of these, 2,03,654 have been completed so far.
22 bodies increased in PMAY-U 2.0
PMAY-U 2.0 has increased to 22 bodies in 13 districts. The first phase included 170 bodies, which has now increased to 192. The Central Government has given instructions to include the deprived cities and towns in the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the first phase.
The state government has also issued letters to all the commissioners of municipal corporations and chief municipal officers of municipal councils, directing them to include the deprived cities and towns in the first phase in the second phase after approval from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Houses are to be allotted to all eligible beneficiaries as per the intention of the Central and State Government. Eligibility test will be conducted after the survey. A joint committee will be formed for this.
