The Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) has made a new revelation in the terrorist attack in New Orleans, America. The FBI said that the terrorist responsible for the truck attack, Shamsuddin Jabbar, had visited New Orleans twice before. He recorded video of the French Quarter with hands-free goggles.
Additionally, the FBI investigation also revealed that Jabbar had also traveled to Cairo, Egypt and Ontario, Canada before the attack. However, the FBI has not confirmed whether Jabbar’s foreign trips were related to the attack in New Orleans. Let us tell you that Jabbar is a resident of Houston city of America, he also has citizenship there.
Jabbar returned to America on July 13, 2023
Lionel Myrthill, FBI Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Field Office, held a press briefing in which he told that our investigation has revealed that Jabbar traveled to Cairo, Egypt from June 22 to July 3, 2023. A few days later, he flew to Ontario, Canada on July 10 and returned to the US on July 13, 2023.
Officials are investigating Jabbar’s activities.
Myrthil said that our agents are finding out about where he went and who he met. Information is also being sought whether these travels of Jabbar are connected to his activities in New Orleans or not.
15 people died in the attack in New Orleans
According to the FBI, Jabbar had pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State jihadist group. He used a pickup truck to kill and injure people on New Year’s Day in the crowded French Quarter of New Orleans. After this the police killed him. 15 people were killed and about 30 others were injured in this attack.
Attack in New Orleans happened hours after Las Vegas incident
The New Orleans attack came hours after a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside Trump Tower in Las Vegas, the FBI said. The driver died in this incident.
Jabbar had posted a video online before the attack
Jabbar had announced his support for Islamic State in a video posted online hours before the attack. It was the deadliest IS-inspired attack in the US in years, highlighting the threat of international terrorism warned by federal officials.
