Australia captain and fast bowling all-rounder Pat Cummins is the only bowler in the world to take 200 wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC) series. Cummins has achieved this important achievement against the Indian team in Sydney. It was under the captaincy of Cummins that Australia won the WTC title last year. Then he defeated the Indian team in the final held at The Oval. Cummins scored a double century of his wickets by dismissing Washington Sundar in the second innings on the third day of the fifth Test match of the series against the Indian team. No bowler had taken so many wickets before Cummins. Sundar scored 13 runs in 43 balls in the Sydney Test match and was clean bowled by Cummins on the fourth ball of the 43rd over of the Indian innings. There are three Australian bowlers in the list of bowlers taking the most wickets in the WTC. After Cummins in this list, there is Australia’s legendary spinner Nathan Lyon.
Lion has taken 196 wickets in 48 tests. Whereas India’s legendary spinner R Ashwin is at third place with 195 wickets. Ashwin has taken these wickets in 41 matches, while Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc is at fourth position with 165 wickets in 43 matches, while India’s Jasprit Bumrah is at fifth position with 156 wickets in 35 matches. Cummins has taken the fastest figure of 200 wickets. Cummins took the maximum of 25 wickets in the five-match Test series against India. He has taken 73 wickets in 17 Tests against India in the 2023-25 WTC season. Cummins is at third place in terms of taking most wickets in a single session of WTC. In this list, Lion is first with 88 wickets while Bumrah is at second place with 77 wickets while Cummins is at third place. Cummins had dismissed Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah in the first innings of the Sydney Test match, while in the second innings he had dismissed wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
