It is noteworthy that recent archaeological discoveries from Sivakalai in Tuticorin have brought researchers closer to establishing a definite connection between Tamil Nadu and the Indus Valley Civilization. Dating of these discoveries places them between 2500 BC and 3000 BC.
Importantly, discoveries in Tamil Nadu reveal the presence of an Iron Age civilization that ran parallel to the Indus Valley Civilization, which extended from 3300 BC to 1300 BC. At the same time, the Indus Valley Civilization mainly used copper objects during this period.
