Income Tax Department teams reached the house of Harvansh Singh Rathore, former MLA from Banda in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh and contender for the post of BJP district president, on Sunday morning. Income tax officers in about 10 vehicles from Bhopal reached Rathore’s bungalow at 8 in the morning. As soon as the news of the raid spread, nearby people reached the spot. The officers closed the gate of the bungalow and started the survey process there.
Harvansh Singh Rathore’s father Harnam Singh Rathore has been a minister in the Shivraj government and his second son Kuldeep Singh is also claiming for the post of BJP district president. Information has been received from sources that the Income Tax Department had received complaints of irregularities in the transactions related to beedi business and properties of the Rathore family, after which the department has started investigating the matter. It is being told that many properties of Rathore family are spread in different parts of the country.
Earlier, while addressing a public meeting on December 23, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had instructed that those involved in corruption will not be spared. In his address, he said that the state government will not tolerate corruption and necessary action will be taken against those involved in it.
Chief Minister Yadav’s statement has come after major revelations during the raids of Income Tax Department and Lokayukta in the state in the last few days. In this, the case of finding property worth crores of rupees in the house of former transport department constable Saurabh Sharma is most important.
At the same time, on Monday, in Pithampur of Dhar district of the state, after the complaint of Assistant Manager Kaniram Mandloi, posted in the Primitive Caste Limited Cooperative Society, that he had assets disproportionate to his income, the teams of Lokayukta Indore raided five places in which Rs 5 crore 60 lakh were seized. More assets were exposed.
