Pakistan, which is facing economic crisis, is now feeling the need of friendship with India. Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed his desire to build better relations with New Delhi. According to the news, while speaking on trade relations with India in a press conference, he said that ‘it takes two people’ to improve relations. He appealed to create an environment to improve relations with India.
Pakistan’s economy is in a very bad shape due to the devastating floods in 2022, high inflation and political instability. The poor economic situation has led to many crises related to meeting the food and energy needs of the population.
All Pakistan’s hopes now rest only on international debt, for which it sometimes has to look towards the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or friends like Saudi Arabia and China. In such a situation, obstruction in trade with India is a major obstacle in the way of its prosperity.
According to the report, Dar informed about the government’s efforts to improve Pakistan’s diplomatic status and promote economic stability through bilateral and multilateral talks. The most recent of these attempts was the beginning of Pakistan’s two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025–2026.
Dar said that efforts are on to transform Pakistan from a nuclear power to an economic power and regain its lost prestige in the international arena. He said the current government during its first 10 months made efforts to increase Pakistan’s diplomatic influence, which helped in shedding the image of ‘an isolated Pakistan’.
