Deviram, who was earlier struggling due to lack of permanent income for his family, got the opportunity to build a cattle shed for himself under MNREGA. He had some animals, but due to lack of shed, he faced difficulties in taking care of them. Through the MNREGA scheme, Deviram not only got a cattle shed built, but it also improved his livelihood. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) has opened new opportunities for livelihood and empowerment for poor families in rural areas. Under this, the story of Deviram living in a small village has become a source of inspiration.
Deviram of Kanai village panchayat of Navagarh development block of Janjgir-Champa district, who earlier used to support his family by working as a labourer, was often troubled by lack of permanent income. He had cows, but due to lack of animal shed, there was problem in taking care of the animals. In such a situation, they get information about the construction of animal shed through Mahatma Gandhi NREGA through employment assistant. Deviram also took necessary information in this regard from the technical assistant. Then the technical assistant got the proposal passed by the Gram Sabha and sent it to the District Panchayat through the District Panchayat. From where an amount of Rs 95 thousand 600 was received as administrative approval. After this the construction of the animal shelter started.
Mahatma Gandhi NREGA workers did the work and his dream cattle shed was ready. After the cattle shed was built, Deviram’s animals started living in better health. This increased milk production, which became their main source of income. Now Deviram is fulfilling the needs of his family by selling milk. Furthermore, he further improved milk production by increasing the number of cows. After the cattle shed was built, Deviram inspired others as well. Other farmers of the village are also improving their livelihood by taking advantage of the MNREGA scheme. MNREGA has played an important role in making many rural families like Deviram self-reliant. This scheme not only provides employment but also contributes to the development of infrastructure in rural areas. Deviram explains that poverty can be defeated through government planning and hard work. This is a ray of hope not only for him, but for many people like him. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), which is being run for employment and infrastructure development in rural areas, has raised new hopes for poor families. Deviram expressed happiness and said, construction of animal shed has brought a big change in our lives. Earlier we used to face a lot of problems, but now our animals are healthy and their productivity has increased. This has provided a permanent source of income to our family.
