Indore residents are going to get the facility of metro train in the new year. It is expected that the metro will start running on the tracks from next month. Preparations for Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) are in the final stages. Just waiting for the green signal from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). Officials say that after getting the green signal, the operation of the metro train will start. It is being claimed that the metro train will start running in the month of January or February.
On Wednesday, officials said that initially the metro train will run on the highest priority corridor of about 6 kilometers between Gandhinagar station and station number 3 of the super corridor. He told that the metro rail experimental test (trial run) on this corridor was done in September 2023. Officials further said that after the metro starts operating, the length of the route will also be increased. According to Collector Ashish Singh, the opening of metro will reduce the pressure of road traffic. Apart from this, people will also get the facility to travel in less time.
Metro train of three coaches will be run initially
According to information received from sources, initially a metro train of three coaches will be run. As the number of passengers increases, three additional coaches will be added to the metro. The decision to increase the number of coaches will depend on the number of passengers. It is being told that 300 passengers will travel in one compartment of the metro train and 50 passengers will be seated on the seats. The foundation stone of the first phase of the metro train project in Indore costing Rs 7500 crore was laid on 14 September 2024. About 31.50 km long round shaped metro train corridor is to be built in the city. Indore residents are excited with the news of running of metro train.
