Let us tell you that the proposal which was sent earlier was returned due to lack of some information, hence now a new proposal has been sent to the Central Government. The tenure of current DGP Ashok Juneja will end in February 2025, so a new DGP has to be appointed in the state.
Sai government sent these three names
Vishnudev Sai government has sent the names of three police officers for the new DGP of Chhattisgarh, they include the names of Pawan Dev, Arun Dev Gautam and Himanshu Gupta. After current DGP Ashok Juneja, Pawan Dev is the most senior, followed by IPS Arundev Gautam of 92 batch, while Himanshu Gupta of 94 batch. Earlier there was a strong discussion that the tenure of the current DGP could be extended, but after the search for a new DGP, the discussion has intensified that now the appointment of the new DGP will be approved by February 2025.
Ashok Juneja got extension once
Current DGP Ashok Juneja has got an extension once, he was given an extension of 6 months by the state government, accordingly his tenure is ending on 5th February. This is the reason why the search for the new DGP has now intensified. Let us inform that on 11 November 2021, Ashok Juneja was made the DGP in-charge of Chhattisgarh by removing the then DGP DM Awasthi, after which the Bhupesh Baghel government of Congress made him the full-time DGP on 5 August 2022. He was scheduled to retire in August, but later the state government gave him an extension of 6 months. In such a situation, one of the three names sent by the state government will be selected on the basis of the performance of these three officers and various parameters. It is believed that Chhattisgarh Police will get a new chief in the new year.
It is being told that there is a possibility of changes being made in the panel of the state government on the basis of seniority and qualification, it is believed that one name can be finalized only after the meeting between the Union Home Ministry and the Government of Chhattisgarh.
