melbourne

The fourth Test between India and Australia has been played today (30 December) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In this match, Team India had to face defeat by 184 runs. The result of Melbourne Test has not been in favor of Team India. During this, Australia has won it by 184 runs, with this big win they have also taken the lead in the series. Actually, India had a target of 340 runs to win the match, but it was limited to 155 runs only. Due to this defeat, the Indian team is now 1-2 behind in the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal played an inning of 84 runs for India, but a bad decision by the third umpire put an end to his innings. According to the information, now the last test will be played in Sydney from January 3.

Let us tell you that despite the fighting innings of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Team India could not save the Melbourne Test against Australia. Australia defeated India by runs in the Boxing-Day Test match. With this, India’s dream of scoring a hat-trick in Melbourne has been badly shattered. This time the Indian team could not score the required 340 runs to win and missed out on a hat-trick. Once again India’s legendary batsman failed in this match. Neither Rohit Sharma’s bat nor Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant’s bat worked. Yashasvi Jaiswal definitely held one end and held out hope but he did not get support. First Rohit Sharma left him alone. Pat Cummins dismissed Rohit on the score of nine. After playing five balls, Rahul also became the victim of Cummins. Virat Kohli could score only five runs.

Yashasvi becomes the fifth Indian to score 50+ in both innings of MCG Test

Indian team’s star opener Yashasvi Jaiwal also scored a half-century in the second innings of the Melbourne Test against Australia and he joined a special list. Yashasvi had scored 82 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and he was successful in spreading his magic in the second innings as well. Yashasvi scored the 10th half-century of his Test career.

partnership with pant
Australia had set a target of 340 runs for India to win. India did not have a good start and the team lost three wickets in just 33 runs. After this, Yashasvi and Pant together handled the innings. However, India suffered its fourth setback at the score of 121. Travis Head got Rishabh Pant caught by Mitchell Marsh. He could score 30 runs in 104 balls. Pant, along with Yashasvi, did not allow any wicket to fall for India in the second session, but in the third session, he lost concentration and lost wickets in the pursuit of big shots. Pant made a partnership of 88 runs with Yashasvi.

Controversy over out
Yashasvi’s brilliant innings was ended by Pat Cummins, but his dismissal has created controversy. Yashasvi tried to play the short pitch ball on the leg side of Cummins to fine leg. He missed and the ball went into the hands of wicketkeeper Carey. The on-field umpire did not give Yashasvi out, after which Cummins decided to take DRS. It was not clear in the replays whether the ball had taken the edge of Yashasvi’s bat or not. After this, it was checked with Snico meter, but no movement was seen in the Snico meter. Despite this, the third umpire overturned the on-field umpire’s decision and declared Yashasvi out. This shocked everyone present there and veteran Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar present in the commentary box also raised questions. Yashasvi was out after scoring 84 runs.

Yashasvi joins the list of Sachin-Kohli
On the basis of his brilliant innings, Yashasvi has joined the special list of legendary batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Yashasvi has become the first Indian batsman to score 50+ in both innings of a Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Yashasvi had scored 82 runs in the first innings of the MCG Test and was out for 84 runs in the second innings.

Before Yashasvi, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, GR Vishwanath, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have also scored 50+ scores in both innings of the MCG Test. Pataudi had scored 75 and 85 runs at this ground in 1967, while GR Vishwanath had scored 59 and 54 runs in 1977. Sachin had scored 116 and 52 runs in the MCG Test in 1999. At the same time, Kohli had played innings of 169 and 54 runs on the same ground in 2014.
