Taliban’s new decree not to install windows in houses…imprisonment of women..

Kabul

A new law has been made against women in Afghanistan. According to this, there should be no windows in newly constructed houses. This law has been made so that women are not able to look outside. The supreme leader of the Taliban government has issued an order regarding this. It says that getting a glimpse of women can lead to obscene acts. Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has also posted a statement in this regard on Twitter. In this he said that new buildings should not have such windows which overlook the courtyard, kitchen, neighbour’s well or the place used by women.

Zabihullah Mujahid has written that seeing women working in the kitchen, coming and going in the verandah or taking water from the well can lead to obscene acts. According to the Taliban government, municipal officials and other concerned departments will also keep an eye on the newly constructed houses. They have to keep in mind that these houses should not have any windows or vents open towards the neighboring houses.

If any house already has a window open towards the neighbour’s house, then he will have to make arrangements for this. The landlord will either have to build a wall around the window or make some arrangements so that the neighbors cannot see into the house from that area. The Taliban government is busy making such arrangements that neither anyone from outside can see them nor they can see any outsider.

It is noteworthy that since coming to power in August 2021, the Taliban government has been imposing restrictions on women’s rights. They are not even allowed to do jobs. The United Nations has also expressed unhappiness over Taliban’s policies towards women. Taliban officials have banned primary education for girls and women. They have also been banned from visiting parks and other public places. Recently a law has been made here, according to which women are prohibited from singing or reciting poetry in public.
