Dehradun
In view of the increasing incidents of drowning in the river in Uttarakhand, a deep diving pool will be built at the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters Jolly Grant at a cost of Rs 53 crore. Here SDRF soldiers will be given high level training. Commandant SDRF Arpan Yaduvanshi claimed that this 51 feet deep diving pool will be the deepest pool in the country, where apart from Uttarakhand, soldiers of security agencies from outside will also come to take training.

Natural disasters occur from time to time
Uttarakhand being a hilly state, natural disasters keep occurring here from time to time. Apart from this, many rivers flow from Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Tehri and a large number of vehicle accidents occur. In the last six months of the year 2024, 372 cases of drowning were reported at various places, out of which SDRF rescued 308 persons safely, while 64 could not be saved. A deep diving pool is being built for the purpose of training SDRF soldiers for searching in rivers. A proposal to build a deep diving pool was sent to the Central Government by the Uttarakhand Government. An amount of Rs 53 crore has been released from the World Bank to build the pool. The proposal to build a diving pool has been approved by the government. Soon the construction work of the pool will also be started. At present, there is no such deep diving pool anywhere. In such a situation, soldiers are sent to Goa and Mumbai for training.

Trainers of Indian Rescue Academy Pune will give training
An agreement has been signed between SDRF and Indian Rescue Academy Pune for conducting disaster management training programs. The soldiers are also being prepared for how to conduct immediate rescue operations in case of a major disaster and how to take good care of them. In this series, the trainers of the academy will give training to SDRF soldiers in deep diving pool. After receiving training, SDRF soldiers will train soldiers of other agencies.
