India’s D Gukesh had created history in the world of chess. He became the new and youngest world champion of chess. D Gukesh had defeated Chinese chess master Ding Liren in the final. In the title match, D Gukesh defeated Ding Liren in the 14th game and captured the title.

PM Modi praised Gukesh a lot
Now 18-year-old D Gukesh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 December (Saturday). Gukesh’s parents were also present during this time. PM Modi praised the golden achievements of D Gukesh. During this time, Gukesh also gifted a chess board to the PM, on which the final of the World Chess Championship was played and Gukesh won.

PM Modi wrote, ‘Had a great conversation with chess champion and India’s Gaurav Gukesh. I have been talking to him for the last few years. What impresses me most about him is his determination and dedication. His confidence is truly inspiring. I remember a video of his from a few years ago in which he had said that he would become the youngest world champion. A prediction which has now proved true thanks to his own efforts.

PM Modi says, ‘Along with self-confidence, Gukesh also has peace and humility. He was calm after the win, basking in his accomplishment and completely understanding how to process this difficult victory. Today our conversation revolved around the transformative potential of yoga and meditation.

PM Modi further said, ‘Parents play an important role in the success of every athlete. I appreciated Gukesh’s parents for supporting him in every difficult situation. His dedication will inspire parents of youngsters who dream of adopting sports as a career.

PM Modi finally said, ‘I was also very happy to receive from Gukesh the chess board of the match in which he had won. This chess board has the signatures of both him and Ding Liren. This is a precious memory.

D Gukesh had broken the record of this veteran
D Gukesh is the youngest world champion in chess. Before Gukesh, Russian legend Garry Kasparov was the youngest world chess champion, who won the title at the age of 22 by defeating Anatoly Karpov in 1985. Besides, he also joined Vishwanathan Anand’s club in terms of a record. Actually, Gukesh became the second player from India to become World Chess Champion. Whereas Vishwanathan is the first Indian. 5-time world champion Vishwanathan Anand won his last title in 2013.
