The war that has been going on for almost three years between Russia and Ukraine has deepened. On Christmas Day i.e. Wednesday, Russia attacked Ukraine by firing 78 missiles and 106 ‘Shaheed’ and other types of drones from water, land and sky. Most of the attacks were carried out against Ukrainian energy targets. Because of this, Ukrainians were forced to take shelter in metro stations on Christmas morning. Neighboring country and NATO member country Poland was shocked by this Russian attack and immediately deployed fighter jets on the Russian border on Christmas morning itself.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has given this information in a post on the social media platform X that fighter planes have been dispatched in view of the Russian missile attacks. The post said that air defense systems have also been deployed on the border with Ukraine. The Polish command has said that such preparations on the Polish border are a standard procedure as part of dealing with imminent threats. Poland’s Defense Command has said that this is an urgent step taken to counter Russia in NATO territory.

Let us tell you that Poland is a member country of NATO. Its relations with Russia are also not good. This is the third time that Poland has deployed fighter jets on the border. Earlier this month, Poland had responded to Russian missile attacks on Ukraine by sending fighter planes. Apart from this, in August this year too, Poland sent two F-16 fighter jets to expel a Russian aircraft IL-20 which was on a reconnaissance mission in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement on ‘X’, ‘Putin deliberately chose Christmas Day for the attack. What could be more inhumane than this?” Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushenko said in a statement on Facebook that Russia had again launched a ”massive attack on energy infrastructure.” Halushenko said, ”(electricity ) The distribution system operator has taken measures to minimize consumption to limit the impact of damage to the power system. “Electricians will assess the damage as soon as the safety situation becomes favorable.”

Ukraine’s air force said several missiles were fired by Russia at Kharkiv, Dnipro and Poltava regions in the east of the country. DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private power company, said Russia attacked one of its thermal power plants on Wednesday morning. It said this is Russia’s 13th attack on Ukraine’s electricity grid this year.
