Swiggy has released its year-end report for 2024, which gives information about various food-related trends. (Note that all figures are based on data collected between January 1, 2024, and November 22, 2024). Like last year, biryani has become the most popular dish ordered in India – especially through this delivery app. Swiggy orders 83 million biryani in 2024. It reported that this meant that 158 ​​biryani were ordered per minute in the country (approximately 2 orders every second). After biryani, Swiggy highlighted the popularity of dosa, which saw 23 million orders this year.
Swiggy has also given other statistics about the most liked dishes. According to reports, Chicken Biryani is the most favorite version of this dish. This year Swiggy received 49 million orders for this. A large part of these Swiggy orders are from people from the southern states of India. Hyderabad tops “Biryani leaderboard” with 9.7 million biryani orders in 2024. It is followed by Bengaluru (7.7 million orders) and Chennai (4.6 million).
158 biryani orders every minute
The year 2024 is about to end and the new year (New Year 2025) is about to begin. Meanwhile, food delivery platform Swiggy has released a report before the end of the year 2024, in which it has been told about the most favorite dishes in the orders placed between January 1, 2024 and November 22, 2024. With 8.3 crore orders, Biryani has become the most favorite dish ordered in India this year too. According to Swiggy, orders for 158 plates of biryani are received every minute in the country. At the forefront of biryani orders It has been Hyderabad, where 97 lakh biryani were ordered.
Dosa reaches second place
After Biryani, the most ordered dish is Dosa, whose order figure between January 1 and November 22 has been 23 million or 2.3 crore orders. According to Swiggy’s report, the platform’s quick delivery service, Bolt, also made headlines. In Bikaner, a person with a sweet tooth got three flavors of ice cream in just 3 minutes, which shows the speed of Swiggy’s operations. Rasmalai and Sitaphal ice cream were the favorites among sweets this year.
A person ate pasta worth â‚ą 50000
Chicken Biryani became everyone’s first choice among biryani. So along with this, pasta has also been included in the favorite food list of Swiggy customers, its popularity was such that a single user from Bengaluru spent Rs 49,900 on pasta dishes of different tastes. According to the report, the most favorite dish ordered between 12 midnight and 2 am was chicken burger, while biryani was the second.
Mumbai’s Kapil delivered the maximum orders

He said that Swiggy Delivery Partners were truly the unsung heroes of 2024, collectively traveling 1.96 billion kilometers during delivery.
In its report, Swiggy topped the list of best performing delivery partners by Kapil Kumar Pandey, who completed 10,703 deliveries in Mumbai, and Kalishwari M of Coimbatore topped the list of female delivery partners with 6,658 orders.
According to Swiggy, biryani was the second most popular choice to satisfy hunger between 12 midnight and 2 am. Chicken burgers were the first choice. Biryani was also one of the most ordered meals on trains (Swiggy has partnered with IRCTC to use a dedicated feature for delivery at specific stations on train routes).
Earlier in the year, Swiggy had also revealed that around 6 million plates of biryani were ordered through the platform during Ramzan 2024 in India. The highest number of orders were placed in Hyderabad city, where over one million plates of biryani were ordered on Swiggy during this period (read more here). Another interesting tidbit from Swiggy’s year-end report was about a certain foodie’s love for this dish. A Swiggy user in Kolkata ordered biryani at 4.01am on January 1, 2024, marking a delicious start to the year!
