Due to this the elections may be postponed by two to three months. In fact, the Commission may have to prepare a new voter list by January 1, 2025. According to the election experts of the corporation, the new voter list has been prepared on the basis of January 1, 2024.
At the same time, from January 1, 2025, the list will have to be revised again for the youth who have completed 18 years of age. Besides, the tenure of the city government of the corporation is also going to be completed from January 5. In such a situation, it is certain that Mayor Ejaz Dhebar will resign on January 6, 2025.
Therefore, speculations are being made that if the government has to hold elections, then the code of conduct will be imposed before December 31. If this does not happen, then after 29 years there is every possibility of an administrator sitting in the corporation.
In a municipal corporation, the position of an administrator is equal to that of a mayor. At the same time, the officers who earlier worked as administrators in the corporation had also given a lot to the city. Seven administrators worked in it from 1985 to 1995. During this period, the administrative reins of Raipur Corporation remained in the hands of Indian and State Administrative Service officers.
These administrators have given a lot to the city. In 1985, Omkar Prasad Dubey was appointed administrator of the Municipal Corporation by the government. He continued to hold the responsibility as administrator from 1985 to 1987. From 1987 to 88, Ajaynath got the responsibility of administrator. He gave Shastri Bazaar, the largest wholesale vegetable market to Raipur.
Manoj Srivastava was also an administrator from 1990 to 93. At the same time, State Administrative Service officer GS Mishra had held the responsibility as administrator in Raipur Corporation from 1993 to 95. Apart from these, Bajrang Sahay, BS Srivastava, Manoj Srivastava have also been administrators.
Mayor’s reservation will be on 27th
After the reservation of Municipal Corporation wards, now reservation for the Mayor will be done on 27th December. The reservation process will take place at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium at 10 am. At the same time, this time the reservation process is likely to be done in a rotational manner.
In such a situation, OBC seat can be reserved for the post of Mayor. If this happens, then the hard work of many veteran leaders of the corporation, who have been preparing to become mayor for the last five years, may go waste.
Administrator can be appointed for two to three months
This time the possibility of becoming an administrator in the Municipal Corporation seems almost certain. This will happen after 29 years when the administration will take over the command of the corporation. However, this time if the administrator is appointed, he will sit only for two to three months.
If the higher officials of the corporation agree, Raipur Collector or Divisional Commissioner can be appointed as the administrator. However, this responsibility can also be entrusted to Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra, because there is talk at the government level of handing over the responsibility to him as an administrator.
