Badminton star PV Sindhu got married. He took seven rounds with Hyderabad’s Udmi Venkata Dutta Sai in Udaipur on Sunday. The wedding took place in traditional Telugu customs amidst family and friends. Some glimpses of the wedding were seen on social media. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat blessed the new couple and also shared a photo from the wedding.
Sharing the photo, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat wrote – I was very happy to attend the wedding ceremony of our badminton champion Olympian PV Sindhu and Venkat Dutta Sai in Udaipur yesterday evening and I wished and blessed the couple for their new life.
The program started on 20th December
Sindhu and Dutta Sai will also host a reception in Hyderabad on December 24. The wedding rituals began on 20 December with a sangeet ceremony, followed by haldi, pelikkuthuru and mehendi ceremonies. Sindhu wore a cream colored saree, while Dutta Sai wore a matching cream colored sherwani. Sindhu’s father told that both the families have known each other for a long time, but the wedding preparations were completed within a month. The wedding date was decided in view of Sindhu’s busy training and competition schedule.
Sindhu is a two-time Olympic medalist
PV Sindhu is counted among the greatest female athletes in Indian sports history. He won the silver medal in badminton at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She became the first Indian woman to win a silver medal in the Olympics. After this, Sindhu won a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He also won the Badminton World Championship title in 2019.
