Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 has started and in his very first match of the tournament, Team India’s ace batsman Shreyas Iyer has scored a century. Iyer is the captain of Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Mumbai’s first match is against Karnataka. Shreyas Iyer has presented his claim for the Champions Trophy by playing an unbeaten inning of 114 runs, while along with him, left-handed explosive batsman Shivam Dubey also scored a stormy half-century. Dubey remained unbeaten after scoring 63 runs. On the basis of their unbeaten partnership of 148 runs, Mumbai managed to put 382 runs on the board at the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Shreyas Iyer came on the field after the wicket of Ayush Mhatre (78) fell on the fifth ball of the 30th over. At that time Mumbai’s score was 148 runs. Then it seemed that by scoring around 150 more runs in the next 20 overs, Mumbai would set a target of 300. But something else was cooking in Shreyas Iyer’s mind. He started his innings in a stormy manner and scored a century in 31 balls, after which he batted directly in the fifth gear and completed the century in the next 19 balls. Shreyas Iyer played an unbeaten inning of 114 runs in 55 balls with the help of 5 fours and 10 sixes. Out of these, he scored 80 runs from the boundary.
Whereas Shivam Dubey remained unbeaten after scoring 63 runs on 36 balls, he fully supported the captain by hitting 5 fours and as many sky-high sixes. Along with Iyer, Dubey has also staked his claim for the Champions Trophy.
This year, Shreyas Iyer’s bat has performed well in domestic cricket, in the Ranji Trophy he scored 452 runs with an average of more than 90, while in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 345 runs with an average of almost 50 and a strikerate of 188. Now he has scored a century in the very first match of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
