Three statues of the first two temples were broken
Three idols of two temples were vandalized in Haluaghat sub-district of Mymensingh on Friday morning. Quoting temple sources and local people, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Haluaghat police station Abul Khair said that miscreants broke two idols of Bonderpara temple in Shakui Sangh of Haluaghat on Friday morning. He said that no case has been registered yet in this incident and no arrest has been made.

One accused sent to jail
In another incident, criminals broke an idol at the Polashkanda Kali temple in Beeldora union of Haluaghat on Thursday morning. On Friday, the police arrested a 27-year-old man from Polashkanda village for his involvement in the incident. During interrogation, a man named Alal Uddin confessed to the crime. He told that he was produced in Mymensingh court, from where he was sent to jail.

Earlier, Polashkanda Kali Mandir Committee President Suvash Chandra Sarkar had filed a case accusing unknown persons. In Dinajpur’s Birganj sub-district, five idols were damaged at the Jharbari Shasan Kali temple on Tuesday. According to the report, this incident came to light on Thursday. Temple Committee Chairman Janardan Roy said, ‘We have never seen such wrongdoing here.’ Officer in charge Abdul Ghafoor said that they are investigating the incident.

continuous attacks
Last week, law enforcement agencies arrested four people for vandalizing and damaging a Hindu temple and community homes and shops in Sunamganj district of northern Bangladesh. Earlier on November 29, a slogan-shouting mob had vandalized three Hindu temples in Chittagong, Bangladesh, which witnessed protests and violence after a former ISKCON member was charged with treason.

Relations between India and Bangladesh were strained after the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government came to power after ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country following student-led protests on August 5. There have been continuous attacks on Hindus in recent weeks. The increasing number of anti-Hindu incidents has given rise to a diplomatic dispute between India and Bangladesh.

Indian government expressed concern
Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha regarding violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told the House, ‘2,200 cases of violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh by December 8, 2024 and 112 cases by October 2024. Were recorded. There are no cases of violence against Hindus and other minorities in other neighboring countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh). The government has taken these incidents seriously and has shared its concerns with the Government of Bangladesh.
