Ladli Brahmin Yojana will not be extended to women above 60 years of age

Bhopal
The government will not expand the Ladli Brahmin Yojana. There is no idea to include women above 60 years of age. The scheme has been designed keeping in mind women between 21 to 60 years of age.

There are one crore 28 lakh beneficiaries and Rs 29 thousand 218 crore has been given to them from June 2023 to December 2024. This information was given by Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria in a written reply to the attention of BJP MLA Dr. Chintamani Malviya.

Argument for including women above 60 years of age

Dr. Malviya raised the issue of including women above 60 years of age in the scheme. He pointed out that mothers aged 60 years and above and senior citizens need relief money more, hence the scheme should be expanded.

Women between 21 years to 60 years included

In response to this, the departmental minister said that the scheme covers women from the age of 21 to 60 years. Earlier the age was 23 years, which was reduced to 21 years. Married women from tractor owning families were also given eligibility. Six lakh 339 new beneficiaries were added from July to August 2023.

Rs 19,221 crore has been paid from January to December 2024. After extensive deliberations, only women between the eligibility age of 21 to 60 years have been made the target beneficiaries.

Many schemes for women above 60 years of age

The state and central governments are running various schemes to help women and senior citizens aged 60 years and above. Therefore, no consideration is being given to expanding the Ladli Brahmin Yojana to women above 60 years of age.
