The driver of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) of Shahpura Bhitauni was caught by the Lokayukta. SDM Nadima Sheeri’s driver caught red handed by Lokayukta police while taking bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh. The basic post of the accused is peon. Lokayukta team has recovered the bribe amount from the possession of the servant. The Additional Collector has suspended him with immediate effect.
On the other hand, considering the role of SDM as suspicious, he has been removed from Shahpura tehsil with immediate effect and attached to the collector’s office. Lokayukta has also started investigating the role of SDM.
3 lakhs were demanded to hush up the matter
Lokayukta SP Sanjay Sahu said that the team has caught peon Sunil Kumar Patel posted in Shahpura tehsil while taking a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh. This complaint was made by Sangram Singh of Khamdehi village of Shahpura Bhitauni.
Sangram’s relative has one acre of land adjacent to the main road of Khamdehi. The farmers of the village store Basmati paddy on this land. On October 28, Shahpura Tehsildar inspected the spot and prepared Panchnama.
On this the SDM had given show cause notice to the applicant. On receiving the notice, SDM’s peon Sunil was talked to to get the matter hush-up and he demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh.
Lokayukta police spread the net, victim got trapped like this
Lokayukta team’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Jharwade, Inspector Kamal Singh Uike, Inspector Naresh Behera recorded the call to verify the complaint and Dhanwantri Nagar was fixed to pay half the bribe amount on Tuesday.
He is posted on the post of SDM in Shahpura tehsil. Along with being a peon, he is also the driver of the SDM. Information has been received that he also used to get people’s cases covered up.
