Police of Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh have arrested four officials of SBI Bank. The officials are accused of committing fraud worth lakhs of rupees by reactivating the closed accounts. When the family members of the account holders came to know about this fraud, they complained about it to the police. After which this entire matter has come to light.
Actually, four officials of Bodla SBI Bank operating in the branch had fraudulently activated the accounts of the deceased which had been closed for years. Not only this, lakhs of rupees have also been embezzled from the accounts of the deceased. When the relatives of the account holders went to the bank after years, they came to know about the fraud and the amount from their family’s accounts had been withdrawn. When the family members got wind of the matter, they complained to the police.
Misappropriation of lakhs from accounts
When the police started investigation, they came to know that the amount of the bank accounts which remained closed for years used to go to RBI. Which the bank officials cleverly used to reactivate the account and withdraw the amount from it. After the matter came to light, the police immediately arrested four SBI Bank officials from different places. According to the police, there are many such accounts from which funds are withdrawn in this manner. As years have passed, even the original account holders do not check these accounts. The bank officials themselves take advantage of this in the same way.
