The coldest morning of the year 2024 was recorded on Tuesday, December 17 in Amarkantak, the holy city of Narmada origin, located at the center point of Vindhya and Satpura Maikal hills at an altitude of 1065 meters above sea level. The temperature here has fallen below 0 degrees.

There was freezing cold in the entire Amarkantak city from the source of Narmada to Kapildhara on Tuesday morning. Due to the drop in temperature at night, the dew on the grass had completely turned into ice.

The water of Narmada also appeared completely frozen like ice. The green grass all around had become completely white and hard. People also realized this by picking up the snow on the grass.

Local people and tourists enjoyed
Snow was seen completely accumulated in the vehicles. Tourists, devotees and local citizens who came to Amarkantak, despite the biting cold, came out and enjoyed seeing this view from close.
There was freezing cold in the rural areas of Pushprajgarh including Amarkantak on Tuesday morning. An environment of heavy cold is also prevailing in Anuppur district. Since December 12, due to the icy winds blowing from North India, the temperature of the entire district including Amarkantak was continuously falling.
Dew had started accumulating on the ground. Frost was beginning to fall. The cold was wreaking havoc on trees, plants, animals and humans including cattle. Last year the temperature in Amarkantak could not come down to the lower level.

Severe cold returned after three years
After last three years, severe cold has returned here. Tourists and devotees present in Amarkantak are enjoying the cold weather here to the fullest and the weather is also showing pictures of freezing like Shimla, Pachmarhi, due to which people also reach Amarkantak in large numbers every day after getting information about the environment of Amarkantak. We are staying and waking up early in the morning to enjoy the cold view.

Meanwhile, there is news from Indore that due to the north-easterly direction of the winds on Monday, the city residents got relief from the cold and saw a rise in temperature. There was an increase of two degrees in day temperature on Monday as compared to Sunday. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 28.6 degrees, which was two degrees above normal.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.6 degrees, which was one degree less than normal. During the day, north and north-east winds blew at a speed of 10 to 12 kilometers per hour. According to scientists of the Bhopal-based meteorological centre, a low pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal which is moving towards Tamil Nadu.

Due to this effect, the temperature is currently increasing in Indore. A western disturbance will also be active in the Himalayan region in the coming days. Due to this, the city residents will get relief from the severe cold in Indore till December 21 and there will also be an increase in day and night temperatures. The city will see a drop in temperature only after the western disturbance passes.
