After the success of Chandrayaan, the eagerness of the children of the country to know more about it has increased. In view of this, Chennai based space startup company has planned a scientific lunar expedition led by women by September 2026. Girls of class 8 and 9 from 108 countries will participate in this campaign. This mission is technically ambitious but will prove to be a major achievement for private companies in India’s space sector.

Space Kidz India is planning to crash land a spacecraft weighing 80 kg on the lunar surface. This vehicle will include an orbiter, a lander and a propulsion module. The objective of this project is not only to send a spacecraft to the moon, but also to train girls from 108 countries in satellite technology and make them a part of this mission.

Under the campaign, 12 thousand girls will be given online training in satellite technology from January 2025. By September 2025, one girl from every country will be selected and brought to India. Here she will be a part of the construction of Chandrayaan along with the team of Space Kidz India. Space Kidz India had earlier also led a satellite mission named AzadiSat in February 2023, which was built by girl students from 750 government schools in India. It was launched by ISRO’s SSLV-D2 rocket.

This mission of Space Kidz India will promote the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. The campaign will be completely driven by girls. Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle will be used for this mission. The estimated cost of this mission will be 80 lakh to 1 crore US dollars. This will be driven primarily by corporate social responsibility funding. Space Kidz India is partnering with ISRO and other global agencies to train children and successfully complete the mission.

If this mission is successful, it will prove to be a milestone for India’s private space companies. This mission will not only showcase India’s strength in the field of science and technology, but will also inspire girls across the world to pursue science and space. This Chennai-based space company is working towards taking India to greater heights in the field of science along with empowering women and youth in the space sector.
