Durg-Vishakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train has 16 coaches, which is not fully filled. Only 30 to 35 percent passengers are traveling in it. Therefore, Railways has decided to reduce the number of coaches.
Same was the situation with Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express, due to which Railways has to reduce coaches. Railway officials say that due to reduction of eight coaches, Vande Bharat Express will start getting adequate number of passengers.
A letter has also been sent to the headquarters to reduce the number of coaches. Vande Bharat trains can have eight, 16 or 20 coaches depending on the route and expected number of passengers. A rake with eight coaches could be better.
This train has two executive class coaches and 14 chair car coaches. It has a seating capacity of 1,128 passengers. There is no enthusiasm among the passengers about the train due to the expensive tickets.
Due to this, Railways is incurring losses due to less passengers. There is no special enthusiasm among the passengers regarding Raipur-Vishakhapatnam Vande Bharat train. Due to this, Vande Bharat is not being filled completely from both the sides.
Waiting in express trains on these routes
More than half a dozen regular express trains, including Vande Bharat, run from Raipur station to Visakhapatnam in a day. Among these, there is waiting in AC and sleeper in Samta Express, while seats are available in third AC in Raipur-Vishakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express. Same is the situation with other trains also.
Decision to reduce coaches after January
Railway zone sources said that the vacancy of Raipur-Vishakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express seats is being continuously reviewed. After looking at it by January, the Railway Board can take a decision on reducing coaches.
