Tirupati
A six-member team of Special Investigation Team (SIT) reached Lord Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh on Saturday morning to inspect the kitchen of the temple. The SIT team probing the Tirumala ‘laddu’ controversy inspected various parts of the temple. The investigation team also examined the temple kitchen, where the sacred Tirumala Srivari Laddu (Prasadam) is prepared. According to media reports, the team inspected the laboratory, where the quality of laddus is tested. The SIT team also inspected the flour mill.
The team is collecting evidence from Laddu Pottu in Shrivari temple, Bundi Pottu outside the temple, ghee storage center and marketing warehouse. They are also collecting details from the temple authorities on the method of making laddus, consumption of ghee, making prasad, supply of ghee and other issues. The SIT team has also seized necessary records.
It may be noted that three weeks before this, a SIT team had gone to Tirupati to investigate adulteration in the ghee used in sacred prasadam. The team had conducted a detailed investigation, the aim of which was to gather complete information about the adulteration case.
Let us tell you that in September, it was revealed that ghee made from animal fat and fish oil was used in the prasad given to the devotees in the form of laddus in the world famous Tirupati Balaji temple of Andhra Pradesh. The revelation of Prasad made from adulterated ghee had deeply hurt the faith of crores of devotees across the country. After this matter came to light, saints and sages across the country started demanding to free the temples from government control.
