Six Indians trapped in the trap of job in Myanmar are returning home, Indian Embassy informed

Naypyidaw.

The Indian Embassy has taken steps to ensure the safety of Indian citizens in Myanmar. The embassy informed that six more Indians stranded in Mayawati are being sent back to India. These people have been taken to the local police station, from where they will soon be sent to India. These Indians were stranded in Mayawadi area, where fraud or illegal activities take place in the name of jobs.

The names of the six Indian citizens who are returning to India from Myanmar are Ajay Kumar, Mustafa, Sukhchain, Bachu Manikant, Sameer Ahmed and Kuldeep. The embassy said that till now 101 Indian citizens have been repatriated from Myanmar to India from July 2024. The Embassy has once again issued an advisory asking Indian citizens to be cautious about job offers in Myanmar. It says not to rely on job offers in this field without embassy advice.

Mayawadi area under control of rebel forces
Rescuing Indian citizens from the clutches of fraudsters running fake job rackets and sending them back is a complex process. The Mayawady area is under the control of Myanmar’s rebel forces and Myanmar’s security forces have no access to it. The Myanmar government tries to help, but its reach is limited. The Indian Embassy can send back the citizens safely only after they reach the local police station.

Indian Embassy had issued advisory earlier also
The embassy had earlier also issued an advisory in May, warning about international criminal syndicates operating in the Mayawady area located on the Myanmar-Thailand border. The embassy had warned Indian citizens to be cautious about job offers from there. The embassy had said in its advisory that people working in Myanmar should first contact the Indian mission before accepting a job offer.
