The Center has approved the proposal to operate concessional helicopter services on the new route of Jammu-Poonch-Mendhar, with the additional option of Jammu-Mendhar-Jammu. An officer gave this information.
The official said that this decision has been taken after Jammu and Kashmir Civil Aviation Department Secretary Mohammad Aijaz Asad proposed to directly connect the remote region of Mendhar with the winter capital Jammu.
Subsidized helicopter services are already operational in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Kishtwar-Sounder-Nawapachi-Ishan-Kishtwar, Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch-Jammu, Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar-Jammu, Bandipora-Kanjalwan-Dawar. -Niri-Bandipura and Kupwara-Machil-Tangdhar-Keran-Kupwara.
Citing information received from the Home Ministry, the official said that the Ministry has approved the proposal to operate concessional helicopter services on the new route of Jammu-Poonch-Mendhar, which also includes the additional option of Jammu-Mendhar-Jammu. He said that the Union Territory has been advised to claim subsidy (concession) within the sanctioned budgetary allocation from the Home Ministry.
