Procurement of paddy continues in Chhattisgarh. Monitoring of senior officials on paddy procurement system is also going on. The process of paddy procurement in the state, which started from November 14, is continuing unabated. So far 45.79 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased. In lieu of paddy purchase, Rs 10,101.13 crore has been paid to 9.79 lakh farmers under the bank linking system.
This campaign of paddy procurement will continue till January 31. Along with purchasing paddy, millers have also started lifting of paddy. DO was issued for 2.51 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, against which 51 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted. Food department officials said that 27.68 lakh farmers have registered for this Kharif year. This includes 1.45 lakh new farmers. This year, it is estimated that 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy will be purchased through 2739 procurement centres. Food Department officials said that on December 12, 2.66 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from 67479 farmers. More than 92 thousand tokens were issued for this. 93160 tokens have been issued for the upcoming day. The state government has issued a helpline number for complaints and redressal in paddy procurement centres, whose number is 0771-2425463.
