More than 10 lakh women have received assistance from 802 one stop centers operating in India. There are 404 Shakti Sadans functioning across the country, where 29,315 women have received rehabilitation and assistance. Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur gave this information in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
What is One Stop Centre?
One Stop Center (OSC) is a component of the Sambal initiative run under Mission Shakti of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It provides integrated support and assistance under one roof to women to address violence and distress in domestic and public settings. It provides services such as medical aid, legal aid and advice, temporary shelter, police assistance and psycho-social counseling to needy women.
802 OSCs are operational across the country
Out of the currently sanctioned 878 One Stop Centers (OSCs), 802 OSCs are operational across the country and have provided assistance to more than 10.12 lakh women till October 31, 2024. Furthermore, Shakti Sadan is a component of the affordability initiative under Mission Shakti. It is an integrated relief and rehabilitation home for distressed women, including trafficked women. Its objective is to create a safe and enabling environment for women in crisis situations, so that they can come out of difficult situations. today’s date In, 404 Shakti Sadans are functioning across the country and currently 29,315 women have been assisted and rehabilitated.
At which places setting up additional OSCs is encouraged?
In fact, the OSC scheme works on a need basis, hence States and Union Territories are encouraged to set up at least one OSC in each district and to set up additional OSCs in those districts which have higher rates of crime against women. or whose geographical area is large and which are counted as aspirational districts.
Government provides 100% financial assistance for appointment and recruitment in OSC
It may be noted that the Central Government provides 100 percent financial assistance to the States and Union Territories for appointment and recruitment of 13 manpower resources per OSC. The overall implementation of the OSC scheme rests with the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations.
