New Delhi
After continuous uproar for several days in the winter session, when the discussion on the Constitution started today, the first speech was by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. During this, he accused Congress of disregarding the Constitution and always choosing power over it. During this time, he also remembered former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and in his pretext, he also took a deep dig at Rahul Gandhi through gestures. Rajnath Singh said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee had gone to Geneva in 1995. He praised the steps of the then government and presented India’s side. Not only this, when he returned to India he said the same thing here also. Today the situation is such that opposition leaders go abroad and speak against India.
Rajnath Singh also mentioned the Shahbano case during this period. He said that when the court gave its verdict in favor of a Muslim woman, the Congress majority government overturned it. Now Modi government has given justice to Muslim women by making a law on triple talaq. The Defense Minister said, ‘Whenever Congress had to choose power and the Constitution, they chose power only. I spent time in jail during emergency. I had to stay in a lonely barrack for 40 days. Not only this, my mother passed away during this period, but I was not even allowed to bid farewell. Rajnath Singh said that the Constitution is a lighthouse in the darkness.
He said that it happened many times in UP that even though we had the majority, attempts were made to stop us from forming the government. On December 6, 1992, Kalyan Singh’s government resigned. Even after this, the dismissal order was issued deliberately. The Defense Minister also mentioned the Emergency and said that he himself was in jail for 6 months. The circumstances were such that he was kept in a solitary barrack for 40 days. During this time my mother died and she also remained in the hospital for a long time. I did not go to see him in the hospital and did not even get a chance to attend his last farewell after his death.
He said that Congress has a history of dismissing state governments using Article 356. One thing among 100 things is that Congress always chose power over the Constitution and power. During this, he also mentioned the steps taken towards equality in the last 75 years. Rajnath Singh said that the Supreme Court has also taken steps for gender equality. The Constitution has been guiding India for more than 7 decades and is becoming stronger. During this, Rajnath Singh, while referring to a comment of Bhimrao Ambedkar, said that even if the Constitution is good, it gets spoiled when it comes into the hands of bad people. If it is bad but run by good people then it becomes good.
