Indore-Khandwa Highway Project’s deadline nears, 30 percent construction left, will the deadline increase?

Indore

The deadline for completion of the construction of Indore-Khandwa-Adalabad highway will end in January, but the tunnel and road work has not been completed yet. About thirty percent work remains to be done. Now for this, consideration is being given to extending the deadline of the project.

The process has been completed by the construction agency. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sent the file to the headquarters. According to officials, the period will be extended by three to six months. However, instructions have been issued to the construction agency to speed up the work.

It was to be completed by January 2025

The work on the 216 km long highway was started in August 2022. The project was to be completed by January 2025. Disputes with villagers during land acquisition, construction of tunnel and approach road, changes in the project two to three times slowed down the pace of construction work.

Here, part of the road between Bhavarkuan and Tejaji has been built. These days, road, underpass and flyover work is being done between Tejaji and Simrol.

Land acquisition process pending near Bherughat

The process of acquiring 0.80 hectare land from Umrikheda forest area was completed in October. The road is incomplete in this part, the construction of which has started from November. Apart from this, the process of acquiring 800 meters of land near Bherughat is yet to be completed. Farmers are to be compensated in exchange for land.

This work will be done till January. The road between Simrol and Choral has also not been completed. Whereas work has also stopped in some parts between Choral and Barwah. At present, Megha Engineering has insisted on extending the period.

The tunnel will be completed by February

Three tunnels will be built on the highway, which are 1300 meters long at Talai-Bherughat and Choral. The approach to the tunnel will be completed by February. Also, a lot of work is left inside the tunnel. According to officials, there was a dispute in October over blasting for the approach road.

After that the work around the tunnel was stopped for a month. This has affected the duration of the project. By the way, a mount drill machine has been called for the approach. Due to this, the agency is taking additional time of three to four months for digging.

Will give extension till March

The deadline for Indore-Khandwa highway is nearing. Certainly the period will have to be extended to complete the project. The process for this is going on. The file has been sent to the headquarters. ,
