MP is the first state to give priority to women empowerment and security – DGP
At the closing ceremony, DGP Kailash Makwana said that commitment towards women empowerment and gender equality is a very relevant and important topic. Today, when we are discussing this topic, it is important to remember that 40-45 years ago there was very little reporting of such incidents, which seems surprising in comparison to today. The Internet and technological development have connected the entire world together, but along with its positive results, it also has many negative effects. Pornographic material available on the Internet today, unfortunately, also circulates easily on mobile devices. This has an adverse effect on people with distorted mindset, causing negative changes in their thinking towards women and girls. This often results in everything from flirting to serious crimes. He said that this program is an example of the fact that Madhya Pradesh is the first state which, on the initiative of the CM, gave priority to women empowerment and security through the coordinated efforts of 25 departments. Awareness campaigns, painting competitions, documentation preparation of girl child, safety audit, and other activities were conducted during this campaign. Awareness programs were organized in slums, haat markets, bus stands, railway stations, and schools-colleges, where women and children were given information about helpline numbers, laws and rights. He said that the findings of the security audit conducted during this fortnight will be analyzed in detail and further policies will be formulated on its basis. On this occasion, the DGP gave away prizes to the winners of the marathon race and also distributed helmets to the women policemen. He congratulated all the officers, departments and participants involved in the program for making it a successful event.
