It has been announced to run a special train with the aim of providing maximum facilities to the passengers coming to Prayagraj to take bath in the Sangam during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. During Mahakumbh, more than 13000 trains including 3000 special trains will be run by the Railways. In this series, three Kumbh Mela special trains are being operated from South East Central Railway.
In order to provide maximum confirmed berth/seat facility to the railway passengers during the extra rush in trains during the Maha Kumbh Mela, South East Central Railway is operating three Kumbh Mela special trains which are on Raigarh-Varanasi, It is being run for three trips between Durg-Varanasi and Bilaspur-Varanasi.
08251/08252 Raigarh-Varanasi-Raigarh Kumbh Mela Special, 08791/08792 Durg-Varanasi-Durg Kumbh Mela Special and 08253/08254 Bilaspur-Varanasi-Bilaspur Kumbh Mela Special train is being run via Bilaspur, Katni, Prayagraj.
