Forest Department concludes cow dung handicraft workshop in Powai.

A 3-day training on cow dung handicraft workshop was conducted by Dakshin Panna Forest Division in Powai. The training was organized for local livelihood development under the Green India Mission of the Forest Department. In the workshop, a special initiative was taken towards making cow shelters economically strong, empowered and self-reliant. A workshop was organized in the cow shed of Vidyasagar Gau-Vansh Samiti under Powai area. Around 50 participants from Powai and Mohandra region participated in it.

In the workshop, the Forest Department had invited Jitendra Bhakane, founder of Swanand Gau-Vigyan, to teach the villagers about various handicraft products made from cow dung. Sukriti Aggarwal, Founder of Gau-Ira Start-up was also present to provide guidance to the villagers on marketing of products.

In the workshop, the participants were taught to make lamps, Shri Ganesh, idols of Adi Yogi and Lord Buddha, feet of Goddess Lakshmi, mobile holders and many attractive decorative items from cow dung. Powai Sub Divisional Forest Officer Mrs. Kalpana Tiwari and Forest Range Officer Nitesh Patel supervised and managed the workshop. Deputy Ranger B.K. was instrumental in successfully organizing the workshop. Khare, forest guards Dinesh Rathore, Jaiprakash Narayan Dubey and Manish Verma also made important contributions. The second 3-day workshop of cow dung handicraft production training will be organized from 13 to 15 December.
