2024 becomes the hottest year in history, global temperature reaches 14.10 degrees Celsius for the first time

Brussels.

The effects of climate change are now becoming increasingly visible across the world. Meanwhile, Europe’s climate change agency Copernicus has issued a scary estimate. The agency has said that the year 2024 is going to be the hottest year in the history of the world. The agency said it is almost certain that 2024 will be the hottest year on record.

The statement said that this would be the first time that the average temperature would be 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The agency said this year recorded the second warmest November in history. November 2023 still remains the hottest November in history. This time in November the surface air temperature was 14.10 degrees Celsius, which is 0.73 degrees Celsius higher than the average temperature from 1991 to 2020. Another unwanted record related to global warming has also been made in November itself. During this period, the average global temperature has been 1.62 degrees Celsius higher than the level of pre-industrial times. According to the Copernicus Agency, this is the 16th month in the last 17 months when the average global temperature has been 1.5 degrees Celsius higher than the level of pre-industrial times. According to the India Meteorological Department, this has been the second warmest November for India since 1901. During this period, the average maximum temperature reached 29.37 degrees Celsius, which is 0.62 degrees Celsius more than normal. If we talk about the period from January to November in 2024, the average global temperature will be about 0.72 degrees Celsius higher than the temperature of 1991-2020. At the same time, compared to January-November 2023, the temperature during the same period this year was 0.14 degrees Celsius higher.

Likely to exceed 1.50 degrees Celsius
European agency scientists said the 2023 temperature was 1.48 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, so it is almost certain that the annual temperature in 2024 will be 1.5 degrees Celsius higher.
