Bangladesh won the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 title on Sunday. Bangladesh defeated India by 59 runs in the final played in Dubai and defended the title. India’s dream of winning the 9th trophy has been shattered. India is the most successful team in this tournament, having won the trophy eight times. India won the toss in the final and put Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh added 198 runs in 49.1 overs. In reply, the Indian team led by Mohammad Aman was all out for 139 runs in 35.2 overs.
Captain Aman scored the most runs for India. He played an innings of 26 runs in 65 balls with one four. India had a poor start while chasing the target of 199 runs. Openers Ayush Mhatre (1) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (9) returned to the pavilion cheaply. After this, the process of falling wickets of India did not stop. Andre Siddharth contributed 20 runs and KP Karthikeya contributed 21 runs. Half of the Indian team returned to the pavilion on the score of 73. Hardik Raj (24) took charge in the lower order but by then it was too late. Five Indian players did not reach double digits. Bangladesh captain Mohammad Azizul Hakim Tamim and Mohammad Iqbal Hasan Emon took three wickets each.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s innings was limited to 198 runs in 49.1 overs. Mohammad Rizan scored the highest 47 runs for Bangladesh. Mohammad Shibab contributed 40 runs and Mohammad Farid contributed 39 runs. Jawad Abrar scored 20 runs and Azizul Hakim Tamim scored 16 runs. Five players of Bangladesh also could not touch double figures. Hardik Raj, Chetan Sharma and Yudhajit Guha took two wickets each. The Indian team led by Mohammad Aman defeated Sri Lanka and entered the final of the 11th edition of the tournament. Whereas, Bangladesh had defeated Pakistan in the semi-finals.
