If a patient’s leg gets burnt, his flesh right up to the bone turns black. Meat from another part of the body is used to cover that bone. The blood vein is also cut so that the meat remains alive. And the foot itself is put on the bone. In this process, many times there are blood veins of different sizes, which create difficulty in joining. Because those veins are small and big, which creates difficulty in joining, Dr. Gaurav Chaturvedi of AIIMS Bhopal has made an innovation to deal with such a situation.
The problem of bleeding from veins will go away
He has developed a new technique for suturing blood vessels, which is named Interrupted Horizontal Micromatrice Shuttering. With its help, any small or big blood vein can be connected easily. This will solve the problem of bleeding from veins after surgery. Actually, in plastic surgery, skin and tissue have to be taken from one part of the body and placed in another part. The size of blood vessels in each part is different. This technology relieves the trouble of connecting them.
Innovation became prevalent across the country
This innovation of Dr. Gaurav has become popular across the country also. Recently, Dr. Gaurav was awarded the prestigious Young Researcher Award for his pioneering work on microsurgical suturing techniques. This honor was conferred on him during the National Biomedical Research Competition, which was organized by AIIMS, New Delhi in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University under the aegis of the Society of Young Biomedical Sciences India. In this event, researchers from across the country presented their advanced discoveries.
Dr. Gaurav Chaturvedi of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Department of AIIMS Bhopal told that at present there is a problem in connecting two blood veins during the operation. Many times the veins burst. Starts leaking. Although a lot of research is going on on this but I have performed 30 successful operations with the help of my innovation. In which all the patients are healthy. It has taken me two years to complete this innovation.
