Many important projects inaugurated in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, people’s quality of life will improve

Several important projects were inaugurated on Friday in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar that will improve civil infrastructure and improve the quality of life of the people of Myanmar. The work of these projects has been completed with India’s annual grant assistance of 5 million dollars.
India’s Ambassador to Myanmar Abhay Thakur along with the country’s Union Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Rehabilitation Dr. Soe Win and Minister of Border Affairs Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung reviewed the Border Area Development Program (BADP) and Rakhine State Development Program (RSDP). Projects inaugurated.

According to the Indian Embassy in Myanmar, the inaugurated projects will provide significant new social and economic facilities keeping in mind the needs of the local people in Chin State and Naga Self-Administered Region, which will be beneficial for their well-being. The completion of the construction of an education center along with 16 roads and bridges in Chin State is a significant achievement. Similarly, construction of 19 roads and bridges and two education centers has been successfully completed in Naga Self-Administered Area. Overall, these initiatives involve 38 activities at a cost of US$45 million, demonstrating a comprehensive effort and commitment to regional development. In addition, important projects include the construction of a water supply system in Gwa Township and the completion of an incinerator in Mrauk U Township. The Indian Embassy said in a statement on Friday that these projects focus on essential services and environmental protection.

Under the BADP and RSDP framework, the Government of India provides grant assistance of $5 million per year, as stipulated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). These projects aim to improve the infrastructure and improve the quality of life of the people in various sectors like water supply, health care, power, road construction, school construction and education.

The government has supported similar initiatives in the areas of renewable energy, e-learning and rural infrastructure in Yangon Region, Nay Pyi Taw, Tanintharyi Region, Sagaing Region, Magway Region and Mandalay Region last year.

The Indian Embassy said, “This partnership is for the development and empowerment of communities in border areas like Sagaing region, Chin State and Rakhine State. “It reflects the commitment of both governments to ensure sustainable development and better living conditions for the people of Myanmar.”

Friday’s event follows the signing ceremony of five Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) aided by the Government of India in October. These projects will serve to improve civil infrastructure in agriculture, rural development, education, handloom and disaster risk reduction sectors in various regions of Myanmar.
