Research on diabetes patients is going on at Pt. Khushi Lal Sharma Government Ayurveda College, Bhopal. This research is being conducted by the Union Ministry of AYUSH. One and a half crore rupees are being spent in this. About 70 percent work has been done. It will take about one more year to complete the research. After this the central government will make the results of the research public.
A big research is going on in Pt. Khushi Lal Sharma Government Ayurveda College, Bhopal to know the effect of Ayurvedic medicines and Panchakarma on diabetes. The initial results of the research being conducted here on 1050 patients are encouraging.
Doctors said that by giving medicines to the patients whose HbA1c level (value) was 13 i.e. the average sugar level of three months was close to 350, some patients could recover within a week and some within 15 days. Sugar level came up to 200.
1050 patients were divided into three groups
Dr. Vivek Sharma, assistant professor of physical medicine, who is part of the research team, says that 1050 patients have been divided into three groups of equal numbers on a random basis. One group was given medicines along with Panchakarma, the other only medicines and the third was given only changes in diet and lifestyle.
They are to be used for three months, although initial results show that most of the patients’ sugar is controlled. Allopathy medicines are not being given to any of them.
Results looked like this
Dr. Kamini Soni, associate professor of the Panchakarma department, said that as per the guidelines of the Ministry of AYUSH, only those patients whose HbA1c is less than 10 have been included in the research, so that there is no risk to health.
Recently, after giving Panchakarma and medicines to 10 patients admitted to the hospital at different times in the last one month, it has been observed that the HbA1c level of eight was significantly improved. On average, its level came down from 10 to around six.
The results in the patients admitted before this were almost similar. As an exception, there were some patients whose HbA1c was 13. By giving medicines after Panchakarma, it has come down to between six and seven. Let us tell you, HbA1c test tells the average level of sugar in the blood for three months.

The medicine will work to heal the pancreas
Every Pathi has its own theory, so one should not doubt it. The principles of allopathy and other pathy in the treatment of diabetes may be similar to some extent. Like change in lifestyle. Panchakarma is also almost a similar process. As far as medicine is concerned, Ayurvedic medicine which will work on curing pancreas or reducing obesity will also be beneficial in diabetes. Currently, about 10 to 12 percent of the general population in urban areas and six to eight percent in rural areas are affected by diabetes. – Dr. Manuj Sharma, Hormone specialist, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal
