MP High Court gave a unique punishment, the guilty youth will have to plant 50 saplings of indigenous species.


Madhya Pradesh High Court Jabalpur has given this punishment to teach a lesson in the criminal contempt case. The young man had made an unrestrained post against the court on social media. If the young man is found guilty in this case, the court has ordered him to plant 50 indigenous species of saplings.

The double bench of Administrative Judge Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf of Madhya Pradesh High Court, after finding the youth accused guilty in the criminal contempt case of posting a post containing indecent comments against the court on the internet media, has ordered to plant 50 indigenous species of saplings as punishment. .

A time limit of 15 days has been set for this. The High Court has also said that the sub-divisional officer of the Forest Department will tell the accused where and which species of trees he can plant. Along with this, the young man was warned not to repeat such mistake in future.

Case of Sambalgarh Court of Morena District

The case was related to the letter sent by the Sambalgarh Court of Morena district to the High Court. It was informed that a maintenance case was pending in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate Abhishek Kumar against the accused Rahul Sahu, a resident of Triveni Nagar in Jaipur district of Rajasthan. Rahul’s wife Pooja Rathore is the plaintiff.

On May 7, 2024, Pooja informed the court that Rahul had uploaded a post on social media containing inappropriate comments against her and the court. Pooja also presented the evidence of that post in the court.

Double bench asked for suggestions regarding punishment

The court took this information on record and issued a show cause notice to the accused Rahul, but neither a reply was submitted by the accused nor he appeared. The court sent a letter to the High Court to initiate a criminal contempt case against this attitude. When the case came up for hearing in the High Court, the double bench asked for suggestions regarding punishment from advocate Aditya Sanghi present in the court room.

The advocate said that it was suggested that considering the financial condition of the accused, he could be given symbolic punishment as a corrective. It would be better to do social service under this. For example, plantation should be done in Bhanwartal Park. The High Court liked this suggestion.
