There is heavy rain in Tamil Nadu due to Cyclone Fangal. Due to heavy rains, flood like situation is prevailing in many areas of Krishnagiri district. The maximum impact is being seen in Uthangarai taluka. Flood water has entered the Uthangarai bus stand, due to which many buses parked there have been hit by the strong flow of water.
Flood water is flowing on the roads, due to which traffic has been badly affected. Water has also entered many houses in the area. People’s property has been damaged. At the same time, flood situation has arisen in Mittapalli, Puruklapalli and Elachiyur villages. Due to filling of Periyar Lake in Singarapattai, water has entered the residential areas. Due to this, the people of the area are facing a lot of problems. The BC Welfare Hostel was also flooded due to which eight students were shifted to another hostel in Uthangarai. Apart from this, due to the rapid inflow of water from Javadhu hills, the surrounding area has been inundated with water from a lake in a panchayat in Uthangarai taluka. Rescue and relief work is being done by the district administration. Flood situation has arisen due to approximately 37 cm rainfall in the district in the last 24 hours. The impact of the storm is decreasing, so it is expected that the situation will gradually become normal.
