Decision on Ramniwas Rawat’s ministerial post possible after Chief Minister’s return from abroad; Now who will become the next Forest Minister of the state?

After the defeat in Vijaypur Assembly by-election, Ramniwas Rawat had resigned from the post of Forest Minister. The decision on the Chief Minister’s resignation due to his foreign tour will be taken upon his return. Rawat had joined the BJP and taken oath as a minister, but was defeated in the by-election.

After the defeat in Vijaypur Assembly by-election, Ramniwas Rawat resigned from the post of Forest Minister. He sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The Chief Minister is currently on a foreign tour, hence the decision regarding accepting the resignation will be taken upon his return.

After its acceptance, the Chief Minister can keep the responsibility of the Forest Department with himself until the cabinet is expanded.

Rawat had resigned from the membership of the Assembly after leaving Congress and joining BJP. He was sworn in as minister on July 8, 2024. BJP made him its candidate in the by-election, but he lost to Mukesh Malhotra of Congress.

Resignation was sent as soon as the results came.

As soon as the results came, he resigned late in the evening. The Chief Minister had to leave from Bhopal for a foreign tour on the same day, hence no decision was taken on this. Sources say that a decision in this matter will be taken after discussion with the organization officials after the Chief Minister returns from his foreign tour.

As per rules, Rawat can remain a minister for 6 months

The rule says that a person who is not a member of the Legislative Assembly can be kept as a minister only for six months. This term of Rawat will be completed in January 2025, but a decision will be taken before that. It is more likely that the Chief Minister will keep the responsibility of the Forest Department with himself instead of handing it over to some other minister. After that the cabinet can be expanded and this responsibility can be given to someone else.
