Head coach Gautam Gambhir suddenly returning to India after the explosive win in Perth Test, BCCI gives permission


Gautam Gambhir has informed BCCI that he will return to India and the board has accepted his request. Gautam will rejoin the team before the second Test to be played from 6 December.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir is scheduled to return home due to personal reasons ahead of the second Test against Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India defeated Australia by 295 runs in the first Test in Perth on Monday to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

According to the report, Gambhir has informed the BCCI that he will return to India and the board has accepted his request. Quoting a BCCI source, the Indian Express wrote, Gambhir has informed us that he will return to India and join the team before the start of the second Test. He has cited personal reasons and BCCI has accepted his request.

Second Test in Oval, before this the team will reach Canberra

  • The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series will start from December 6 at the Adelaide Oval. Before this, the Indian team will play a two-day practice match of pink ball in Canberra. The team will go to Canberra on Wednesday.
  • In the absence of Gautam Gambhir, India’s assistant coaches Abhishek Nair and Ryan ten Doeschate, bowling coach Morne Morkel and fielding coach T Dilip will oversee the training sessions under captain Rohit Sharma.
  • Rohit Sharma did not play in the Perth Test. He reached Australia only on Sunday. Rohit missed the first Test in Perth to be with his family during the birth of his second child.

Rohit was seen practicing in the nets with the pink ball before the Adelaide Test. Former Australian opening batsman and Fox commentator David Warner said, Rohit seems to be batting in full rhythm in the nets. Rohit practiced against fast bowling ahead of the pink ball Test match starting in Adelaide from December 6.

According to Warner, we are eager to see Rohit Sharma back on the field on Australian soil. There was immense pressure on Gambhir and his coaching staff after India’s 0-3 Test series defeat at home against New Zealand.
